'Blue Hydrangeas' Wins Best Floral For Plein Air Salon

I would like to share with you some exciting news.  I recently won "Best Floral" in the 5th annual Plein Air Salon Competition in the December/January entry with my painting Blue Hydrangeas.  It is now considered a semi-finalist winner in the annual competition announced at the Plein Air Convention & Expo in April 2016.  Keep an eye out for its appearance in the April/May issue of Plein Air Magazine.

This painting was completed late 2015.   It is 24x36.   When setting up this floral, my vision was to incorporate a variety of colorful plants and flowers that were unique in their individuality, yet complemented each other beautifully.  I chose the dark background in order to give the painting a full sense of depth, allowing the flowers in the foreground to appear as though they are actually falling forward.

Blue Hydrangeas is still in my studio and available for sale.  For any inquiries, visit my contact the artist page.
