Costa Rica: A New Chapter in the Life of an Artist

Well I am here, it actually happened. I picked up my things, I packed my bags, and I moved! For the past several years I have developed a desire to travel and see new places. Whether it be a short weekend trip a few states over, or a three-week stay on the other side of the world. I have fallen in love with travel. It is the desire to see new things, new people, and new places, it has driven me to want to just GO!  Just travel! Just say why not lets GO, and see what is over there! But this is the first time that I made a move that is a bit more extensive, a move to Costa Rica! For an amount of time that is unset. A one way ticket, an open invitation to endless opportunities. It is not always about going to the finest paces, the ones deemed the best of the best, but more about just seeing something new! Don't get me wrong, if I can work out going to a place where palm trees line the soft sandy beaches and that salty ocean air is in every breath, I will certainly go there!

As an artist, I have nurtured the craft of observing. It is necessary for artists to observe, so that they can accurately capture what is inspiring them. We observe every subtle change in color, value, and in the drawing, while at the same time we recognize the overall beauty of a great composition. You could paint the same seascape a hundred days in a row, and not one of the paintings would look the same. Because life is changing, and with each new day, there is new life. With all that said, I am an observer, and I want to observe as much of this world as I can. And as an artist I want to capture as many of these beautiful  experiences and share them with the world. Which is why I made the choice to move down to Costa Rica, and paint this beautiful place.

I moved here with my amazing girlfriend (who happens to be an amazing writer, by the way). We have only been here a little over a week now, and are still settling in. Soon the paint supplies will be shipped in, and I will begin to work (if you call painting work). It is a place of beauty: from the flowers, the people, and the amazing landscape to the thick ocean air and most beautiful sunsets known to man. I certainly look forward to painting it, and I hope you will enjoy what I will have to share.

It's so nice that you and Taylor have the opportunity to travel. So many people want to but just can't for one reason or another. AND you both get to work at what you love to do and are good at.

Hope you will share some of the paintings you do.

Good for you. It is a gorgeous country which so very much variety to enjoy and stimulate your senses and your creativity. Curious to know where you decided to settle, or will you move around. I visited years ago and loved the country as nd its people. Wishing you both peace, good health, love and inspiration to last a lifetime!!!

I'm so jealous!!! But thrilled and happy for the 2 of you. More power to you. Keep us all posted on this wonderful journey of yours. Much HAPPINESS AND GREAT PAINTING!!! 🎨🌴

How exciting for you and Taylor! Few get to live out a dream like this. Some, like me, will have to settle living the dream thru you. So, I look forward to all your posts and sneak previews of all your work. God bless you both and keep you safe, inspired, and loving life!

Kyle, I was so glad to hear about your latest adventure and hope you will keep us updated about new scenes, sights and work.....every move will bring a new perspective to your paintings. Maybe you could compile your work someday and we could have a new show, showing for you in New London showing the change in locations through your art. Keep up the good work! Gusta

MY wife and I are happy for you both can't wait to see your new work, best of luck MK
